Short answer
Justas Butkus is a Lithuanian AI engineer and fractional AI officer based in Vilnius. He founded AINORA, MB, a production AI voice platform, and Impetora, an enterprise AI consultancy for regulated industries. He holds a BSc in Quantitative Economics from ISM University of Management and Economics and is trilingual in Lithuanian, English and Russian.
What I do
I build and operate production AI systems, and a limited number of companies engage me to run theirs.
The two are the same skill applied at different distances. Running a live AI platform means dealing with the parts that only appear after launch: outputs that are wrong in ways that reach a customer, models that drift, regulatory obligations that attach to the thing you built rather than the thing you designed. That is the experience the advisory work draws on, and it is why the advice tends to be specific rather than general.
Background
- Based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Working across the UK, EU and US.
- Founder of AINORA, MB — a production AI voice platform operating in multiple languages.
- Founder of Impetora — enterprise AI consulting for regulated industries.
- BSc Quantitative Economics, ISM University of Management and Economics.
- Baltic Financial and Investment Advisor certificate.
- Trilingual — Lithuanian, English, Russian.
The economics background, and why it shows up in the work
The training was quantitative economics, and it shapes how these decisions get made more than the engineering does.
Most AI failures are not engineering failures. They are selection failures: someone chose a use case because it was interesting rather than because it was expensive. An economics habit of asking what a process actually costs, multiplied by how often it happens, before asking whether it can be automated, removes most of those before anything is built.
How I work
- Two to four days a month, a limited number of engagements at a time.
- A fixed-scope diagnostic first, always, with a written roadmap you keep either way.
- Milestones rather than hours in the engagement.
- You hold the keys — accounts, infrastructure and documentation are yours throughout.
- Independence stated in writing — the officer role does not procure from my own companies. If a roadmap points there, I disclose it and step out of the decision.
